About the Archives

The Reform Congregation Keneseth Israel (KI) Archives founded in 1974, contain over 100,000 documents, books, photographs, and other items dating from the founding of the synagogue in 1847. This material records the history of KI,  one of the oldest continuously operating synagogues in the United States. In addition to KI materials, this site has significant information on the Greater Philadelphia Jewish community, American Jewish history, Jewish Genealogy, and holocaust related topics. Much of this material precedes the founding of KI itself. There are also links to many other websites connected to American Jewish history, Jewish genealogy, and the greater Philadelphia Jewish community.

Please note: the digitized KIPAH archive begins with articles written in 1847.
