EXHIBITION: RECYCLED/REPURPOSED/REPAIR THE WORLD: Art as Tikkun Olam

DATES: March 30 – June 30, 2019

“ARTSPER Magazine, 2018
Today, ecology is at the center of many political, economic, and social debates. No wonder that it got its way into contemporary creation too, through the more or less defined movement of recycled art. Whether they are politically committed artists or simply walking in Duchamp’s footsteps and his ready-mades, their artworks are profoundly original and create unexpected figures from unlikely materials…”

A desk calendar that is now an Omer calendar; a cigarette box that is now an Etrog box. These recycled treasures from the museum’s permanent collection serve as inspiration as 22 artists recycle and repurpose objects from the ridiculous to the sublime, demonstrating their creativity, concern for our environment and the concept of Tikkun Olam (Repair the World).
